Beechworth - Historic Precinct
Take a self-guided walking tour around the collection of historic buildings including the Beechworth Historic Courthouse, Telegraph Station, Sub Treasury, Chinese Cultural Centre, Forestry Museum and the Robert O’Hara Burke Museum. These buildings were all constructed in the 1850’s from local honey coloured granite. Together they provide a fine reflection of a prosperous era.
Another self-guided walking tour takes in the legacy of the pioneers in our historic buildings, heritage streetscapes and houses. Stand in the dock and cell where Ned Kelly stood during his committal hearing, and visit the sites of bushranger gang hideouts.
Details of these walking tours and other attractions are available from the Beechworth Visitor Information Centre.
